Financial Analyst - Contract

Our client is offering an incredibly exciting contract opportunity.

As a Financial Analyst, in a global Energy leader, you will oversee responsibility for supporting divisional heads by providing them with monthly financial information & analysis of their results to improve decision-making, identifying areas of financial control weakness to be addressed, understanding the effect of business drivers on the  financial performance of various units and provide strategic financial advice to the business unit with the aim of improving their business performance.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly Opex accruals & ensure monthly account reconciliations are performed on time.
• Produce monthly cost reporting & coordinate cost review meetings with cost centre owners, leveraging financial acumen to influence business decision-making.
• Perform monthly variance analysis of actual vs budget on operating expenses and provide explanations for variances
• Coordinate monthly 24-month rolling forecast for divisional Opex, gathering inputs from key stakeholders, review for reasonability and accuracy, consolidate, and present to key stakeholders.
• Provide financial guidance including driving the accounting policy & IFRS interpretation and application, tax implications of proposed actions, capex vs. opex decisions etc.
• Participate in special projects as directed by Manager

Requirements

• Fully qualified CA(SA) or CIMA or an articled individual
• 2-5 years of experience post qualification highly preferable, especially experience in cost analysis and reporting
• Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability and confidence to work well with a broad spectrum of personnel
• SAP and experience knowledge would count in candidate’s favour

As this is a contract (6-12+ months), my client requires someone who is able to start on short notice so ideally positioned for a finance professional who is immediately available to the market or available on 2 or less weeks.
