Junior Accountant - Portuguese Speaking

Our client, a prestigious turnkey engineering solutions company, focuses on steel fabrication, seeks to employ a qualified junior Accountant to join their Finance Team in Cape Town. 

Please note that preference will be given to candidates who speak fluent Portuguese as this is a non-negotiable requirement due to dealing with clients in Mozambique and has experience in Mozambique legislation and taxation.  

KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION 

• You will have a tertiary qualification in Finance or Commerce as well as +5 years of experience in financial accounting, VAT and IFRS 
• You will have experience in processing bank accounts and reconciliations on Pastel, as well as credit card processing and loading salaries 
• You will be responsible for monthly trial balance checks, reconciliation of intergroup loan accounts, passing of monthly interest, providing a breakdown of balances (such as pre-payments and accrued expense/income), ensuring assets agree to FAR, and overview of an Income statement 
• You will be preparing weekly net position reports, following up on debtors and creditors Controller on query lists, follow up on sales transactions not processed, and monitor debit orders 
• You will not only ensure correct preparation and loading of foreign payments on Nedtreasury, but you will also be the safekeeper of petty cash entries on Pastel and monthly reconciliation of petty cash 
• You will be responsible for the submission and payment of EMP 201 based on report received from HR, confirmation of all new supplier bank accounts (local and foreign as per registered procedures), send weekly BIC report to all project engineers to track their costing, job costing on completed projects, running Job Costing and WIP calculations, and maintain fixed asset register 
• You must be accurate and detail-oriented, willing to take on new responsibilities, and be able to adhere to deadlines 
• You must have experience with advanced Excel and Pastel Accounting 
• You must have a valid driver’s licence, own car and a clear criminal and credit record
