Job Description

This isn’t a bookkeeping job. It’s a seat at the table of an organisation that takes on some of South Africa’s biggest public interest battles, and wins. Every rand you manage, every report you produce, and every donor deadline you hit keeps that fight funded, credible and defensible. If you want your finance career to mean something bigger than the ledger, keep reading.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re not looking for someone who just processes invoices, we’re looking for:

  • A guardian of resources, someone who treats every donor rand as if it were sacred
  • A problem-solver who spots a variance before it becomes a crisis
  • An operator who can run payroll, reconcile accounts and still hit every statutory deadline without missing a beat
  • Someone who wants their financial acumen to fund justice, not just profit

What you bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
  • Completed SAICA articles, our first prize, or completed SAIPA articles
  • Eligibility for registration with a recognised professional accounting body (SAICA or SAIPA) as a professional accountant is essential. You don’t need to be registered yet, we’ll support your registration once you’re on board
  • 3+ years of finance experience; grant management exposure is a strong advantage
  • Experience with Pastel Evolution and advanced MS Excel skills
  • Payroll experience is a bonus

What you’ll own:

Bookkeeping and financial record-keeping, accounts payable/receivable, banking and payments, budgeting and forecasting, monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting, payroll and staff expense administration, audit coordination, statutory compliance (SARS, UIF, Compensation Fund), risk management, and full grants administration including donor reporting and compliance.

Why this role?

You’ll be the financial backbone of an established non-profit working at the frontlines of social and environmental justice in South Africa, a place where accuracy, integrity and sound financial management directly protect the organisation’s ability to fight the cases that matter.

If you’re ready for a role that offers challenge, variety and the opportunity to make a tangible contribution, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note if you haven’t heard back from us within two weeks of submitting your application, unfortunately your application has not been successful this time. We’d still love to stay connected, follow us online and keep an eye out for future opportunities that match your profile.
