We're on the hunt for an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to help oversee and manage all activities within our Payroll department. If you have Payspace payroll experience and a passion for accuracy, compliance, and efficiency — we'd love to hear from you!

Salary: Market Related CTC

Role Type: Permanent position, Office based

EE/AA: EE only

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 + tertiary qualification in Payroll Management

• 10+ years' payroll experience

• 4+ years experience as a payroll manager (non-negotiable)

• Proven experience running payrolls for ± 10 companies / ± 2 000 staff (wages & salaries)

• Payspace experience essential (parameter level + reporting)

• Accounting background & strong reconciliation skills

• Budget compilation & control experience

• Tax submissions experience

• In-depth knowledge of LRA, BCEA, COIDA, OSHA, POPI, Income Tax Act, Wage Determination Act & Bargaining Council Agreements

• Advanced MS Excel & Word (not intermediate)

• Valid Code 08 driver's license and own vehicle

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage payrolls for ± 10 companies / ± 2 000 staff (wages & salaries)

• Oversee capturing, reconciling & control processes

• Compile & manage departmental budget vs. actuals

• Tax submissions & statutory compliance

• Handle bonuses, leave/retrenchment provisions, EE & labour stats

• Input into policies & workflows (medical aid, garnishees, etc.)

• Manage Payroll & Time & Attendance system interfaces

• Guide & develop direct reports

• Ensure legal compliance & audit-ready processes

• Participate in strategy & Payroll projects
