Senior Credit Controller – FMCG

Main Purpose of the Job:

This role is aimed at an experienced professional who can manage the full credit control function, including collections, reconciliations, credit risk assessments, and debtor management.

Requirements

• Diploma in Credit Management (1-4) or equivalent finance-related qualification.
• Minimum 5+ years in credit control/debtors management, preferably in the FMCG sector.

Competencies

• Strong knowledge of credit vetting, collections, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro, or Pastel) and MS Excel.
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full credit control function, ensuring timely debt collection and minimizing risk exposure.
• Oversee debtors’ accounts, ensuring accurate invoicing, statements, and reconciliations.
• Conduct credit risk assessments and provide recommendations on credit limits and terms.
• Resolve account queries efficiently, including disputed invoices, proof of deliveries (PODs), and credit notes.
• Allocate and reconcile payments from bank statements and match them to accounts accurately.
• Work closely with the sales and finance teams to maintain strong client relationships.
• Ensure compliance with company credit policies and industry regulations.
• Prepare and present age analysis reports to management, highlighting risks and collection trends.
• Drive continuous improvement in credit control processes to enhance efficiency.
