Job Description:
Our client, a leading international mining group, is seeking an experienced FS Study Manager to take accountability for the successful delivery of large-scale feasibility and pre-feasibility studies across complex mining projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating all technical, operational, and commercial aspects of study delivery. This includes ensuring studies are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards, while developing robust, investment-ready business cases for executive decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership, direction, and coordination of feasibility, pre-feasibility, and economic studies.
- Ensure delivery of studies within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining high technical standards.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across geology, mining, engineering, and consulting functions.
- Integrate study outputs into comprehensive, investment-ready business cases for executive and investment committee review.
- Establish and maintain effective governance, assurance, and reporting structures throughout the study lifecycle.
- Apply orebody knowledge to optimise project value and support sustainable mine planning strategies.
- Oversee planning, research, testing, and evaluation of optimal mining and processing methodologies.
- Manage consultants and contractors in line with project objectives, timelines, and company standards.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive cost control, capital management, and overall financial performance of study activities.
- Ensure quality control processes are implemented and adhered to across all technical workstreams.
- Monitor and report on study progress, performance, and key milestones to senior leadership and Exco.
- Set performance objectives for team members and ensure accountability for delivery.
Experience and Skills:
- Master’s in geology, rock engineering or a related field; or Bachelor of Science degree with equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in delivering large-scale mining studies (FS/PFS/PEA).
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across geoscience and engineering functions.
- Experience working within NI 43-101, JORC, or equivalent reporting frameworks.
- Strong understanding of orebody evaluation, mine planning inputs, and study optimisation.
- Experience managing complex drilling programmes (RC and diamond drilling).
- Experience working within underground mining environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership capability.
- Ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects and solve problems effectively under pressure.
