Role Overview

The Commercial Vehicle Sales Consultant is responsible for driving sales growth by developing strong relationships with customers in the transport and logistics sector. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, managing key accounts, and providing professional guidance to customers on the most suitable vehicle solutions for their operational requirements.
The successful candidate will manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to delivery while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term business relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial transport market.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic customer accounts.
  • Conduct regular prospecting activities including cold calling, networking, and client visits.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets relating to unit volumes, profitability, and market share.
  • Provide expert guidance to customers regarding vehicle specifications and operational suitability.
  • Promote the company’s product offering and services to ensure strong brand positioning in the market.

Sales Process Management

  • Manage the complete vehicle sales cycle from enquiry through to final delivery.
  • Prepare and present detailed quotations and vehicle proposals.
  • Coordinate vehicle specifications, body fitment requirements, and related configurations.
  • Oversee the delivery process to ensure a smooth and professional customer handover.
  • Ensure all documentation and deal records are completed accurately and timeously.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers.
  • Maintain regular communication with both prospective and existing clients.
  • Provide ongoing support and updates to customers throughout the purchasing process.
  • Conduct scheduled customer visits to strengthen relationships and identify additional opportunities.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism in all customer interactions.

Account Maintenance and Growth

  • Maintain an accurate and well-managed customer database.
  • Regularly review customer activity to identify retention and growth opportunities.
  • Keep customers informed of product updates, industry developments, and relevant market changes.
  • Work proactively to increase customer loyalty and repeat business.

Administration and Compliance

  • Ensure all sales transactions are processed according to company procedures.
  • Monitor payment terms and ensure transactions are completed within agreed conditions.
  • Assist with invoicing processes and ensure deals are finalised correctly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and customer engagements.
  • Adhere to company policies relating to safety, operational standards, and workplace practices.

Sales Support Tools and Proposals

  • Utilise electronic sales and quotation tools to prepare customer proposals.
  • Ensure quotations include relevant technical details, drawings, and operational information where required.
  • Present professional sales proposals that clearly demonstrate vehicle benefits and operational value to the customer.

Minimum Requirements

Education
  • Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
Experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience within the commercial vehicle or trucking industry.
  • Proven experience in sales and customer relationship management.
Advantageous
  • Code 14 driver’s licence.
  • Knowledge of road transport legislation and industry regulations.
