National Maintenance Planner – Cold Storage

Our client is looking for the expertise of a National Maintenance Planner to join their team. The role is to support our client’s Cold Storage network and drive a step-change in how our client manage maintenance across the business.

This role is critical by moving the business to a fully planned, performance-driven maintenance environment.

Reports To: Engineering and Design Executive

Location: National (multi-site oversight)

Role Purpose

The National Maintenance Planner is responsible for establishing, controlling, and continuously improving all planned maintenance across the Cold Storage network. The role ensures that every site operates with high asset reliability, regulatory compliance, and cost discipline by embedding a structured, data-driven maintenance culture using FIXX CMMS (Maintenance Management System).

This role is central to shifting the business to a fully planned, performance-driven maintenance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning and Control

Build and maintain national PPM strategies for all asset classes:

o             Refrigeration (ammonia systems, compressors, evaporators, condensers)

o             Electrical (MV/LV, generators, lighting)

o             MHE (forklifts, dock equipment)

o             Building and fire systems (ESFR, doors, racking, civil works)

• Develop task libraries, job plans, frequencies, and SOPs in FIXX.
• Ensure all statutory, compliance, and insurer-driven tasks are embedded in the MMS.

FIXXC MMS Ownership

• Act as national system owner for FIIX:

o             Asset hierarchies and registers

o             PM templates and workflows

o             Failure codes and priorities

• Enforce that all work is logged, planned, executed, and closed in FIXX.
• Drive data quality and discipline across all DCs.

Scheduling and Coordination

• Produce weekly and monthly maintenance plans per site.
• Align maintenance execution with operational constraints.
• Work closely with DC Managers and Maintenance Teams to ensure visibility and zero surprises.

Performance and Reporting

• Establish and manage KPIs:

o             Planned vs Reactive ratio

o             Schedule compliance

o             MTTR / MTBF

o             Asset uptime

o             Backlog health

• Produce national dashboards and monthly reports from FIXX.
• Identify systemic failures and improvement opportunities.

Cost and Risk Management

• Support maintenance budgeting and forecasting.
• Reduce emergency callouts and breakdown losses.
• Ensure risk-critical assets are always covered by compliant maintenance regimes.

Culture and Capability

• Train site teams and DC Managers in FIXX and maintenance discipline.
• Embed “planned first” thinking across the business.

Required Experience and Skills

• 5+ years in maintenance planning or reliability engineering (industrial, FMCG, logistics, or cold chain)
• Strong understanding of industrial maintenance and compliance environments
• Refrigeration plant exposure (ammonia advantageous)
• Proven CMMS experience (FIXX preferred)
• Strong Excel and reporting capability
• Systems thinker with high process discipline
• Able to operate across multiple sites and senior stakeholders

Success Measures

• Planned maintenance > 90% within 6–12 months
• Reduction in breakdowns and emergency work
• All compliance tasks auditable in FIXX
• High data integrity and national adoption
• Predictable, visible maintenance execution role to support our cold storage network and drive a step-change in how we manage maintenance across the business.
