Senior Exploration Geologist (Rare Earths / Resource Evaluation / Competent Person) – Nigeria

    • Lead and oversee exploration activities across three rare earths concessions in Benue State.
    • Design and supervise early-stage exploration programmes including mapping, pitting, trenching, and drilling.
    • Evaluate geological data to determine the size, quality, and viability of the rare earths resource.
    • Provide early-stage resource viability assessments to inform investment and development decisions.
    • Guide the project toward readiness for a Competent Person’s Report, where justified.
    • Review and interpret topographical, geological, and geophysical data.
    • Provide technical leadership and daily/bi-daily remote support to site-based teams.
    • Conduct periodic site visits to ensure field programmes are executed to required technical standards.
    • Mentor and support local exploration teams and contractors.
    • Advise on exploration tools, methodologies, and the use of handheld geological survey equipment.
    • Contribute technical input to management decision-making regarding project continuation or termination.

 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related Earth Sciences discipline (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
    • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in mineral exploration.
    • At least 5 years’ direct experience in rare earth elements (REE) exploration, sufficient to act as a Competent Person.
    • Demonstrable experience signing off or contributing to Competent Person’s Reports.
    • Strong, hands-on exploration experience (field-based, practical-not theoretical).
    • Experience in geological terrains comparable to Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
    • Tin exploration experience advantageous but not essential (approx. 80/20 REE vs tin focus).
    • Comfortable working in early-stage, high-uncertainty exploration environments.
    • Experience using handheld geological survey devices (candidates to confirm availability and willingness to travel with equipment).
    • Strong analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Willingness to travel regularly to Nigeria and operate in remote field conditions.
