Our client is looking for a Re-Engineering Draughtsman who will be responsible for reverse-engineering existing components, redesigning outdated or obsolete parts, and producing accurate technical drawings and 3D models to support manufacturing improvements, cost reduction, and product optimization. The role requires strong mechanical understanding, CAD proficiency, and the ability to interpret engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional analysis, component measurement, and disassembly to recreate technical drawings for existing parts.
  • Identify engineering improvements for manufacturability, performance enhancement, or cost
  • Translate legacy drawings, rough sketches, or physical components into CAD models and updated engineering documentation.
  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with manufacturing standards, tolerances, and company drafting
  • Update and revise drawings based on engineering changes, production feedback, or inspection
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications, and material lists for production teams.
  • Work with machinists, welders, and fabricators to ensure drawings align with available manufacturing capabilities.
  • Support troubleshooting during manufacturing by clarifying drawing requirements or revising designs for Maintain accurate revision histories and drawing version control in line with engineering standards.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of drawings before production
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry drafting standards (ISO, OEM specs, internal QA requirements).
  • Work closely with engineers, production teams, quality inspectors, and project managers to integrate feedback into designs.
  • Attend technical meetings and support re-engineering projects involving redesign, product improvements, or line optimization.

Requirements

  • Education – Grade 12
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SoldiWorks, Creo, Inventor or similar)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • 3-5 years drafting experience in a manufacturing or engineering
  • Previous experience in reverse engineering or redesign work work highly advantages.
  • Familiarity with fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly
  • Strong 2D/3D CAD modelling and technical drawing expertise
  • Knowledge of mechanical components, materials, tolerances, and industry standards Understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles,
  • High attention to detail and Analytical problem-solving ability,
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills,
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet

Salary: Market related

Location: Germiston

Start Date: 1st February 2026

Working Hours: (Dayshift} 07:00- 16:00 Monday- Friday
