Job Purpose:

To provide administrative and operational support to the Transport Broker by assisting with daily transport coordination, driver communication, load scheduling, and documentation. The Junior Transport Broker ensures that transport operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

  • Assist with daily transport planning and scheduling.
  • Capture and update load details, trip sheets, and delivery notes on the system.
  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, PODs (Proof of Delivery), invoices, and fuel slips.
  • Prepare load confirmations and send to clients and drivers.
  • Assist with documentation required for cross-border or local deliveries.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain direct communication with drivers, clients, and depots regarding loading and delivery status.
  • Track and monitor trucks in transit and update the broker on progress or delays.
  • Assist in handling queries from drivers and clients in a professional manner.
  • Follow up on outstanding PODs and report discrepancies.

Operational Support

  • Help source available trucks and confirm availability for upcoming loads.
  • Assist in liaising with clients for load requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor fuel usage, tolls, and other trip-related expenses.
  • Support the broker with rate confirmations, load costing, and data capturing.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all transport documentation is complete and filed correctly.
  • Assist with compiling daily and weekly operational reports.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and internal company procedures.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (English and Afrikaans preferred).
  • Computer literate (MS Office, Excel, email, and transport management systems).
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Team player with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 / Matric required.
  • Diploma or certificate in Logistics, Transport Management, or Business Administration (advantageous).
  • 1–2 years of experience in transport/logistics administration or fleet coordination preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of road freight industry practices and documentation.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (occasional after-hours communication may be required).

Remuneration:

  • Market-related, depending on experience.
