Job Description:
Our client, an established company in the mining industry, is seeking an R&D Manager in Mineral Processing. This role will focus on developing, designing, and optimizing mineral processing methods (mechanical preparation, physical and physio-chemical separation) to enhance recovery rates and concentrate quality. The position emphasizes innovation and the development of new processes for the valorization of emerging deposits, the creation of new products, and the optimization of industrial operations. The ideal candidate will bring solid scientific, technical, and technological expertise to support and advance the company’s projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize processing flowsheets involving comminution, classification, gravity separation, magnetic separation, and flotation.
- Design and implement R&D programs in accordance with industry best practices.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale testing in comminution and physical concentration (lab cells, flotation columns, pilot units), optimizing key operating parameters such as reagents, particle size distribution, and pH.
- Evaluate and validate new and emerging technologies in mineral processing.
- Provide training and technical support to production engineers in addressing industrial processing challenges.
- Contribute to ore characterization and assist in the preparation of metallurgical balances.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Degree in Engineering or a PhD in Mineral Processing, Mineral Engineering, or Extractive Metallurgy, with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong proficiency in process simulation software.
- Practical experience in laboratory and pilot testing, ideally with flotation plants and gravity separation units.
- Demonstrated success in leading and delivering plant improvement projects.
- Hands-on, solutions-oriented approach, with strong teamwork skills and creativity in developing innovative solutions for both laboratory and industrial environments.
