Trust Administrator Cape Town 

 

A reputable law firm in Cape Town is seeking a meticulous and reliable Trust Administrator to manage and oversee all trust account activities. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with the Legal Practice Council (LPC) regulations and provide administrative support to the firm’s legal professionals regarding trust matters.

 

Salary: Market related

 

Qualification Requirements:

Matric with Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or legal administration (Advantageous)

3+ years’ experience in trust administration within a law firm environment

Solid understanding of trust account regulations and compliance (LPC rules)

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and legal accounting software (e.g., AJS, GhostPractice, or similar)

Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Discretion and ability to handle confidential information

 

Key Responsibilities:

Open, maintain, and reconcile trust accounts in accordance with LPC requirements.

Process trust payments, receipts, and transfers accurately and timeously.

Maintain up-to-date trust ledgers and ensure all supporting documentation is filed and accessible.

Prepare monthly and annual trust account reconciliations and reports.

Liaise with attorneys, clients, banks, and auditors regarding trust account queries and audits.

Monitor and report on trust balances, ensuring no shortages or irregularities.

Assist with the preparation for annual trust audits and ensure all compliance requirements are met.

Keep abreast of changes in trust account regulations and ensure firm policies are updated accordingly.

Provide general administrative support to the finance and legal teams as required.
