Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Team Leader to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business, with a key focus on ensuring timely and accurate completion of monthly accounts. This role includes direct supervision of the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions, ensuring smooth workflow, compliance with procedures, and high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring all entries are completed and accurate within deadlines.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations as part of the monthly accounts process.
- Supervise and support AR and AP team members, ensuring effective processing of invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Ensure aged debtor and creditor reports are monitored, accurate, and actioned as needed.
- Review and approve supplier payments and customer receipts prepared by the AP and AR team.
- SARS compliance with respect to VAT, Payroll Taxes and Income Taxes.
- Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
- Support external audits with accurate and timely data.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis as required.
- Provide mentoring and development support to junior finance team members.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant finance or accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Diploma in Accounting
- Strong knowledge of month-end processes, general ledger, and reconciliations.
- Experience managing or supporting AR/AP functions.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 200 Evolution Explorer, Xero and Microsoft Excel )
- Experience is submitting VAT returns, EMP201 and IT returns.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary: Market related depending on experience
