Procurement Officer Montague Gardens, Cape Town
Our food manufacturing client is looking for a Procurement Officer with 4+ years experience in a similar role. The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services required for food manufacturing operations. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, packaging, and other supplies, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with company policies and food industry regulations.

Minimum Requirements:
National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
4 years’ procurement experience, preferably in the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
Experience with food safety and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO, FSSC) is highly advantageous.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and procurement/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro, Sage).
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of B-BBEE procurement processes is beneficial.
Valid driver’s license and own transport (advantageous due to location).
Willingness to work occasional overtime as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, packaging, and services relevant to food manufacturing.
Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts to ensure best value and quality.
Raise purchase orders and manage the end-to-end procurement process.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
Ensure all purchased goods comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO, FSSC).
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Resolve supplier issues, discrepancies, and non-conformances promptly.
Assist with supplier audits and performance evaluations.
Identify and implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives.
Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new products relevant to the food manufacturing sector.
Support compliance with B-BBEE procurement requirements and company sustainability goals.
