Job Description:

Our client is seeking a degree qualified Mine Planning Engineer with experience in underground gold mining environments to join their team in Mpumalanga.

 

Responsibilities:

• Supporting the development, implementation and optimization of mine plans for several orebodies using various mining methods.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to in the development and implementation of mine plans, data analysis, and identification of improvement opportunities, to ensure operational requirements are met while ensuring safety and efficiency of operations.
• Assisting in developing short and medium term mine plans.
• Collecting, analyzing and interpreting geological data, geological modeling and production data.
• Assisting in the preparation of mine schedules, production forecasts and resource estimations.
• Utilizing of mine planning software for the generation of plans and reports.
• Monitoring of mining operations to ensure adherence to planned schedules and budgets.
• Assisting in updating mine models and data management systems.
• Supporting related environmental, safety and sustainability initiatives.

 

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.
• 5 years’ experience in mine planning, with at least 3 years in underground gold mining environments.
• Experience with a range of mine planning software such as Vulcan, Surpac and Deswik.
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
• Team player with the ability to work both under supervision and independently.
• High attention to detail and able to work within strict deadlines.

 

 

Benefits and Contractual information:

• Permanent contract following successful completion of initial short term contract.
• Relocation to the area required.
