My client in the Transport Industry is looking for an Artisan Assistant to join their team.  The purpose of the job is to provide assistance to technicians with servicing and repairs to heavy commercial vehicles which includes trucks, trailers, tankers and auxiliary equipment.

Main responsibilities:

• Assist with inspections, servicing, repairs and maintenance on trucks, trailers, tankers and auxiliary equipment (incl. braking systems, suspensions, structural components, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics).
• Operate basic electrical and mechanical equipment pertaining to the job, i.e. manual equipment and small power tools.
• Carry out grinding, preparation and assembling if required.
• Work according to occupational health and safety requirements.
• Helping where needed and carrying out any reasonable requests.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 10
• Basic Computer literacy
• Heavy commercial vehicle knowledge
• Basic knowledge of airbrakes
• Basic auto-electrical knowledge
• Basic knowledge of diagnostic equipment
• Basic knowledge of engines, transmissions and drive lines
• Demonstrates a technical aptitude and ability
• Basic hand tools experience
• Physically fit
• Willing to work weekends and overtime as operationally

Experience

• Minimum 1 years experience in a heavy commercial vehicle workshop.

Other

• Certificate of Fitness (COF)
• Clear criminal record
