Opportunity Available!! Our leading client in the Automation Sector is looking to employ a Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth.
 
Job Responsibilities: 
  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for automated machinery and industrial installations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, control systems, and software engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and mechanical system simulations to validate concepts and ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee or assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of mechanical systems on-site.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including CAD drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and specifications.
  • Participate in project planning, including cost estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate existing systems for performance improvements, safety enhancements, and optimisation opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with South African engineering codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in technical support and training of maintenance personnel and clients.
  • Manage contractors and suppliers when required during the installation phase.
Job Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or BSc) or Equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years experience in a mechanical engineering role, preferably in the automation or industrial sector.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and production techniques.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
  • Hands-on installation or commissioning experience will be highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with industrial standards such as ISO, SANS, and OSHA.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally for site work and project execution.
