Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join the Product Engineering Division as an Electrical Component Engineer, in Kariega Eastern Cape.
 
Role Overview
The Electrical Component Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Group’s products meet local market requirements through the design, development, testing, and release of locally manufactured electrical components. This includes adapting internationally sourced component designs for compatibility with South African environmental and regulatory conditions and ensuring all components meet the appropriate engineering standards and specifications.

Key objectives include:
  • Ensuring the production of vehicles that are free from component-related issues
  • Achieving local content compliance
  • Supporting unique product features
  • Maintaining safety and reliability in service
  • Supporting continued availability of components for discontinued models in the local market
  • Adhering to the Product Emergence Process (PEP) manual
Key Responsibilities
  • Release and specification of electrical components for local vehicle production
  • Resolve design-related issues on all locally manufactured vehicle platforms
  • Coordinate testing and validation of components and systems both locally and with global sources
  • Maintain and update the Bill of Materials (BOM) system
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Perform cost analysis of components, systems, and development projects
  • Initiate and investigate cost-saving (PKO) opportunities
  • Manage projects involving new or modified components and systems
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechatronics)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design and development of automotive components for volume production

  • Strong understanding of engineering and technical design principles
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Project management capability
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to lead and collaborate within cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
  • High computer literacy (MS Office, CAD tools)
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in applying preventive and corrective design tools and methodologies
