ENVIRONMENT:

A well-established attorneys’ firm with offices in Cape Town and Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced IT Technician to join its team. The successful candidate will provide reliable in-person and remote technical support across both offices, troubleshooting hardware and software issues and supporting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365. The role requires two to four years’ corporate IT support experience and regular travel between the Cape Town and Stellenbosch offices.

DUTIES:

  • Provide support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by assessing impact, prioritising issues, running diagnostics, and documenting problems and resolutions.
  • Manage the full endpoint lifecycle for user devices, from onboarding through to offboarding.
  • Resolve Helpdesk requests with minimal supervision.
  • Provide professional technical support to senior stakeholders, including directors and lawyers.
  • Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 and application-related issues.
  • Share technical knowledge and assist with team training and standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of IT processes, documentation and user experience.
  • Administer Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Provide iManage/FileSite user support.
  • Support Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Assist with endpoint management using Microsoft Intune and device policies.
  • Support VPN, Wi-Fi and LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Perform workstation builds, rebuilds and lifecycle replacements.
  • Enforce IT security standards, including endpoint protection, patching and access controls.
  • Assist with user access reviews and offboarding processes.
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness and responsible user behaviour.
  • Take ownership of technical issues from initial logging through to resolution.
  • Maintain accurate ticket notes and technical documentation.
  • Assist with IT asset management and stock control.
  • Liaise with vendors regarding repairs, warranties and technical escalations.
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend standby support when required.
  • Provide support for all IT-related requirements across the Western Cape.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • 2–4+ years’ experience in a corporate IT support environment, preferably within professional services or the legal sector.
  • Experience providing both in-person and remote user support.
  • Strong Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 support experience.
  • Experience with Windows Server, Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and SMTP.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Exchange and Exchange Online.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure and connectivity technologies, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi and VPN.
  • Working knowledge of endpoint security and patch management systems and applications.
  • Working knowledge of SQL.
  • Relevant IT certifications preferred, such as Microsoft or CompTIA.
  • Willingness to alternate between office locations as required.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport are essential.
