Our client is seeking a skilled, reliable and motivated Boilermaker / Mechanical Technician to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and modification of mechanical equipment and components, while also assisting with the sourcing and procurement of materials required for projects.
This role would suit a technically minded, hands-on and safety-conscious individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately from engineering drawings and technical instructions. The successful candidate will also be required to liaise with suppliers, identify the correct materials for projects and ensure that materials are sourced and available within the required timeframes.

Mechanical & Workshop Duties
- Read and interpret engineering, mechanical and fabrication drawings accurately.
- Perform fabrication, mechanical assembly and fitting work.
- Carry out basic welding and fabrication using appropriate welding equipment.
- Assist with the manufacture, modification and repair of mechanical components and structures.
- Operate workshop tools, machinery and equipment safely and correctly.
- Perform basic CNC machine operations, including machine setup and operation under instruction.
- Measure and inspect components to ensure they meet required dimensions and specifications.
- Assist with mechanical installations, repairs and maintenance as required.
- Identify and report mechanical faults, defects and potential technical issues.
- Work closely with technicians, engineers and production team members.
- Complete work accurately and within required deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Comply with all company health and safety procedures and workshop standards.
Materials Sourcing & Procurement
- Identify the correct material type, grade, thickness, dimensions and quantities required for projects.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to determine material requirements.
- Prepare accurate material lists and communicate requirements to management or procurement personnel.
- Source suitable materials from approved suppliers.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations based on pricing, availability and lead times.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding material specifications, pricing, availability and delivery dates.
- Follow up on outstanding orders and ensure materials are delivered within required timeframes.
- Inspect received materials to confirm that the correct items, quantities and specifications have been supplied.
- Report incorrect, damaged or unsuitable materials to management and suppliers.
- Assist with identifying alternative materials or suppliers where required, subject to engineering or management approval.
- Ensure materials are sourced cost-effectively without compromising quality or technical requirements.
- Monitor stock levels of commonly used workshop materials and consumables.
- Assist with maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring materials are stored correctly.
- Minimise material wastage through accurate planning, measurement and material utilisation.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification or trade experience in Boilermaking, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Fitting or a related field.
- Previous experience in a workshop, manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
- Basic welding skills and practical fabrication experience.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machinery and machine operation.
- Good understanding of mechanical components, tools and workshop practices.
- Ability to use measuring equipment accurately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Ability to identify and source the correct materials required for projects.
- Good communication and supplier liaison skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Must be of sober habits.
