Legal Secretary RAF Litigation Paarl

 

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Legal Secretary with specialist Road Accident Fund (RAF) litigation experience to join their legal team in Paarl. The successful candidate will provide full secretarial and administrative support within a busy RAF litigation environment. This role requires a candidate with strong knowledge of RAF claims processes, court procedures, litigation timelines, legal drafting, document management and client liaison.

 

Salary: Market Related

Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30 (Office based only)

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric with relevant qualification
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary.
  • Specific and proven experience in Road Accident Fund litigation is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of: RAF claims processes, RAF litigation procedures, High Court processes, Court filing requirements, Litigation timelines and deadlines
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Office, CaseLines, Court Online
  • Strong legal drafting and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience providing excellent client service and care.
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing and able to work office-based in Paarl.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support in RAF litigation matters.
  • Draft, type, format and amend legal correspondence, pleadings, notices, affidavits, court documents and other litigation-related documentation.
  • Manage RAF litigation files from inception through to finalisation under the guidance of legal practitioners.
  • Prepare, collate and organise court bundles, discovery documents and trial documentation.
  • Upload and manage documents on CaseLines and Court Online.
  • Diarise and monitor key litigation dates, court dates, filing deadlines and prescription dates.
  • Liaise with clients, counsel, medical experts, RAF representatives, sheriffs, courts and other stakeholders.
  • Arrange consultations, appointments, pre-trial conferences and meetings.
  • Follow up on outstanding documents, expert reports, medical records and RAF-related information.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files, both electronically and physically.
  • Attend to court filing, service of documents and related litigation administration.
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, RAF procedures and internal firm processes.
  • Handle client enquiries professionally and provide regular feedback where required.
  • Assist with general office administration related to litigation matters.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately, timeously and to a high professional standard
