Leading Cape Town Building Contractor
A leading Cape Town building contractor is seeking an experienced Site Agent to take full responsibility for the management and successful delivery of school building projects in Cape Town.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional who can lead the site team, manage subcontractors and ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the construction site.
- Lead and coordinate Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel.
- Plan and manage construction activities in line with the project programme.
- Monitor progress and implement corrective action where required.
- Coordinate subcontractors and ensure efficient sequencing of trades.
- Ensure construction work complies with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Manage site logistics, resources, materials and plant.
- Monitor productivity and ensure effective utilisation of labour and subcontractors.
- Liaise with the Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, consultants, client and professional team.
- Attend site meetings and provide accurate progress updates.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges and potential delays.
- Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Manage snagging, completion and project handover.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years' experience in a Site Agent / Site Manager role within the building construction industry.
- Proven experience managing building projects from commencement through to completion.
- Experience on school, education, institutional, commercial or similar projects will be highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of building construction methods, sequencing and site management.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multiple site teams.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction programmes and project timelines.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Relevant construction qualification preferred.
- SACPCMP registration will be advantageous.
