Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished senior finance executive to join a leading, complex financial services organisation in a pivotal Group-level CFO position.

This role combines strategic finance leadership with significant responsibility for Group financial reporting, technical accounting, financial governance, controls and reporting integrity.
The successful individual will have built strong technical foundations across IFRS and financial reporting, while having progressed into a broader executive finance leadership role. This position requires someone equally comfortable interrogating complex financial information and operating strategically with senior executives and Board-level stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide senior financial leadership and oversight across a complex Group environment
  • Oversee Group financial reporting, consolidation, technical accounting and statutory reporting
  • Provide leadership across IFRS governance, accounting policies, financial controls and reporting integrity
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy and credibility of financial information provided to senior leadership and governance forums
  • Oversee executive and Board-level financial reporting and supporting analysis
  • Analyse financial performance, identify trends and risks, challenge forecasts and provide meaningful commercial insight
  • Maintain robust financial governance, control frameworks and reporting disciplines
  • Oversee areas including capital reporting, balance sheet management and financial control
  • Partner with senior executives, finance leaders, auditors, regulators and other key stakeholders
  • Lead and develop a high-performing specialist finance team
  • Strengthen technical reporting capability and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of finance processes
  • Contribute to strategic financial decision-making and the broader direction of the finance function

The ideal candidate:

  • CA(SA) and/or relevant senior professional finance qualification
  • Approximately 10–15+ years' progressive finance, accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Significant experience operating in a senior financial leadership capacity
  • Deep technical understanding of IFRS and financial reporting
  • Strong experience across Group reporting, consolidation, statutory reporting, financial controls and governance
  • Financial services experience is strongly preferred, particularly within insurance, investments, asset management or banking
  • Experience within a large, listed or similarly complex corporate environment would be advantageous
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to engage and influence at senior leadership and Board level
  • Exposure to financial services regulatory reporting would be advantageous
  • A combination of strong technical credibility, strategic thinking and commercial judgement

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior finance leader looking to take on a highly influential Group-level position within a sophisticated financial services environment.
