Purpose of Role

The Senior Sales Representative is responsible for driving profitable sales growth by developing new business, managing key customer accounts, expanding existing relationships, and achieving revenue and gross margin targets. The role supports the Divisional Manager by providing market intelligence, mentoring Sales Representatives- Sales Support, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
    • Commercial & Sales Management
      • Achieve individual revenue and gross margin budgets.
      • Develop new customers and grow existing accounts.
      • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to payment.
      • Negotiate pricing within company guidelines.
      • Maintain accurate sales pipeline and forecasts.

       

       

    • Customer & Account Management
      • Build long-term customer relationships.
      • Identify cross-selling opportunities.
      • Support timely collections.
      • Resolve customer issues promptly

       

       

    • Market Intelligence
      • Monitor competitors and pricing.
      • Identify new product opportunities.
      • Submit monthly market reports.

       

       

     

 

    • Team Support
      • Coach junior Sales Representatives, Sales Support Team.
      • Share best practices.
      • Support divisional initiatives.
      • Ensure customer contracts, and pricing terms are properly documented and up to date
      • Ensure division’s documents, records up to date

       

Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 years in chemical, mineral, or commodity trading and/or sales
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of industrial chemicals and/or minerals required. Experience with Boron products, fertilizers, or commodity trading is a significant advantage
  • In-depth understanding of the South African market. Sub-Saharan Africa or broader African market experience is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with international trade terms (Incoterms), logistics, and price risk management
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically without restriction
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365. Experience with CRM or trading/ERP systems is advantageous

 

 

Contractual Information:
  • Permanent
  • Willing and able to relocate to Johannesburg, South Africa for the opportunity.
