Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their underground mining operation in Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, fault-finding and repair of Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM), including drill rigs, dump trucks and LHDs.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair underground TMM in line with OEM and workshop standards.
• Conduct planned maintenance, inspections, servicing and breakdown repairs.
• Perform fault-finding and identify mechanical, hydraulic and maintenance defects.
• Read and interpret hydraulic circuits and schematics.
• Complete job cards, service sheets, handover reports and machine history records.
• Conduct testing and sign-off of equipment following repairs.
• Complete lubrication, inspection and service checklists accurately.
• Apply lock-out and isolation procedures at all times.
• Identify, report and control hazards and risks.
• Ensure full compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act, COPs, SOPs and company SHE policies.
• Complete all planned maintenance tasks according to schedule.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
• Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate.
• 5+ years' experience in underground TMM environments.
• Proven experience maintaining drill rigs, dump trucks and LHDs.
• Experience on AARD, Fermel, GHH, Atlas Copco and / or Sandvik equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with strong repair and maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic diagrams.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritise maintenance issues and tasks.
• Sound understanding of underground mining safety and maintenance requirements.
