Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to corporate management, shareholders, lenders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Lead the preparation and review of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Coordinate external audits and support all statutory reporting requirements.
  • Oversee general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with mine management, engineering, geology, processing, and operational teams to support business performance and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the annual Integrated Business Planning process across mining, processing, maintenance, exploration, and administration functions, including budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor budget performance, investigate significant variances, and support cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Lead the financial component of Life of Mine (LOM) planning and long-term financial modelling activities.
  • Collaborate with technical services, geology, mine planning, and operations teams to align financial assumptions with production plans.
  • Evaluate project economics, including NPV, IRR, payback periods, and long-term cash flow projections.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses relating to commodity prices, operating costs, grade profiles, recovery rates, and capital investments.
  • Support strategic planning processes, feasibility studies, expansion projects, acquisitions, and business development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all direct and indirect tax obligations, including corporate income tax, provisional tax, royalties, transfer pricing, and deferred tax accounting requirements.
  • Manage relationships with tax authorities, external auditors, and tax advisors.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the business.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements and company policies.
  • Support internal audit engagements and implement audit recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and business partnership.
  • Build strong working relationships with operational, technical, and corporate stakeholders.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent will be highly advantageous.
  • 8–10 years of progressive finance experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years in a senior finance leadership role within the mining sector.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and mining industry financial practices.
  • Proven experience in mine costing, financial modelling, and Life of Mine planning.
  • Experience evaluating capital projects and preparing investment analyses.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing external audits, tax compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Advanced financial modelling, analytical, and reporting capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and business partnering.
